About

Surve, the name being Manaswinee Surve hails from Pedhambe in Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra (India) Pedhame is a small village surrounded with lots of greenery and a small river with a small population of approximately 600 people. The main occupation of people in this region is agriculture and her immediate and extended family too owned a piece of land on which they cultivated rice and trees of seasonal fruits.

As a result, she spent her childhood in the shade of the trees and hearing of roar of the rivers in the monsoon. Mother nature had her spellbound and never did she think that one day she will be working in the field of software technology.

She never came across a computer until her higher education. She completed her Bachelor’s of Engineering from Finolex Academy of Management & Technology, Ratnagiri, Mumbai University. Subsequently, she came to Mumbai in search of a job. While the fact remained that she was an Electronics Engineer, she was already inquisitive about the information technology revolution that was taking place in the country.

She landed her first job in an e-Learning Firm, LearningMate Solutions Pvt. Ltd. in  Otober, 2003. Overall, it was a good experience to work in a large company which employed over 100 people where she worked as a Team Leader, managed projects, and successfully created prototypes for various critical projects.

In August, 2005, she joined Oinam Software, where her primary role was that of a CSS developer. She enjoyed the role she essayed in the small startup and made contributions in various technologies ranging from Javascript, AJAX, ColdFusion and other related web technologies. Oinam Software was acquired by Nanocast Research and Development, a software startup from the Silicon Valley with operations in India. Nanocast’s has laid emphasis on creating Rich Internet Application enabling users to express themselves using audio, video and images. Since the website is critical of the success of the product on the whole, care is being taken to give user experience which would do justice to a Web 2.0 site. The product is currently in alpha and registration is open at http://www.mixercast.com.
